直接空気回収の新興企業であるCapture6社とPalmdale Water District社（PWD社）は、米国カリフォルニア州で、淡水資源を生産すると同時にCO₂除去量を増やすための共同パイロット施設の建設を計画していると発表した。Capture6社のプロジェクト・モナーク（Project Monarch）を含む、アンテロープ・バレー純水実証施設（Pure Water Antelope Valley Demonstration Facility）と名付けられたこの施設は、この種のものとしては初の完全統合型水管理・CO₂除去施設となる。

PWD社は、高度な水処理システムを検証するために実証施設を建設している。Capture6社は、PWD社施設内に試験的なCO₂除去施設であるプロジェクト・モナークを併設し、統合的プロセスでは、水の再生率を高めつつ、大気中のCO₂を除去できることを示す。

Capture6社は、塩水を使ってCO₂除去溶媒を生成する。PWD社が建設しているような水処理施設と提携することにより、Capture6社の技術は、農業用及び消費用の水の再生量を増やすと共に、手頃な価格のCO₂除去を提供できる。

Capture6, a direct air capture startup, and Palmdale Water District (PWD) announced they plan to build a joint pilot facility to produce freshwater resources and simultaneously increase carbon removal in California. The facility, named Pure Water Antelope Valley Demonstration Facility which includes Capture6’s Project Monarch, will be the first fully integrated water management and CO₂ removal facility of its kind.

PWD is building a demonstration facility to validate its advanced water treatment system. Capture6 will co-locate the pilot carbon removal facility, Project Monarch, within the PWD facility to showcase the ability to boost water recovery and remove atmospheric CO₂ in an integrated process.

Capture6 uses saltwater to create its carbon removal solvent. By partnering with water treatment facilities, like the one PWD is building, Capture6’s technology can increase the volume of water recovered for agricultural uses and consumption and provide affordable carbon removal.
