CarbonCapture社、DACプロジェクトを米国からカナダのDeep Sky Alphaへ移転

米国企業のCarbonCapture社は、タマラック（Tamarack）と呼ばれる自社の直接空気回収（DAC）プロジェクトを、当初計画していた米国アリゾナ州のサイトからカナダ・アルバータ州にあるDeep Sky Alpha施設へ移転する。
プロジェクト・タマラックを通じて、CarbonCapture社のカナダ子会社であるTrue North Carbon社は2025年10月末に向けて、カナダ最大規模の単一DAC技術展開を開始する予定である。
同システムは、本格稼働能力に達すれば、大気中のCO2を年間2,000トン回収することができると予測されており、同国において運用されているこの種の技術として最大規模となる。
Financial Post紙が報じたところによると、同社は、カナダ・アルバータ州の気候技術に好ましい条件のため、このDAC移転を決定したという。
CarbonCapture社のCEOであるAdrian Corless氏はメディアに対し、当初このプロジェクトは米国で立ち上げられる予定でアリゾナ州の工場に部品も準備されていたが、今年始めChris Wright米国エネルギー長官（Energy Secretary）がクリーンエネルギー実証局（Office of Clean Energy Demonstrations）による数十億ドル規模の助成金を撤回したことでこの計画が変更され、アルバータ州へプロジェクトを移転するため迅速に社内が再編成されたと述べた。

U.S. company CarbonCapture is moving its direct air capture (DAC) project called Tamarack from the originally planned site in Arizona to the Deep Sky Alpha facility in Alberta, Canada.
Through Project Tamarack, CarbonCapture’s Canadian subsidiary True North Carbon is expected to launch the largest single DAC technology deployment in Canada towards the end of October 2025.
Once the system reaches full operating capacity, it is projected to be able to capture 2,000 tonnes of atmospheric CO2 annually, becoming the largest operating technology of this kind in the country.
As reported by the Financial Post, the company is making this DAC relocation due to the favorable climate tech conditions available in the Canadian province of Alberta.
Speaking to the media, CarbonCapture CEO Adrian Corless shared that initially, the plan was to launch this project in the United States, with components ready for it in a factory in Arizona, but the cancellation of billions of dollars in awards from the Office of Clean Energy Demonstrations by Energy Secretary Chris Wright earlier this year changed this vision, with the company swiftly regrouping to transfer the project to Alberta.
