直接海洋回収（Direct Ocean Capture：DOC）技術の商業化に向けた重要な一歩として、共同技術資格認定プログラムが、Captura社DOCシステムを商業展開に向けて検証した。
DOCは、海水からCO2を抽出し、それを恒久的に貯留するか、あるいは再利用する技術系炭素除去ソリューションである。Captura社のDOC技術は、高性能な電気透析と、海洋が大気中のCO2を吸収する自然の能力を組み合わせることで、既存のカーボンマネジメント・ソリューションに拡張性と補完性を備えたアプローチを提供する。
ここ2年間、Equinor社及びCaptura社は、この有望なソリューションを推進するために協力して来た。Equinor社の技術専門家達とCaptura社のエンジニアリング・運用チームは共同で、同システムの設計、運用安定性及び持続的運用における性能の評価に重点を置いて取り組んだ。
この取り組みは、米国ハワイ州コナ（Kona）にある年間1,000トン規模の共同パイロット施設における1年間に及ぶ厳格な資格認定プログラムにつながった。プログラムは、安全性、運用信頼性、CO2除去効率、モニタリング・報告・検証（MRV）を含む20の重要な性能指標に対して同システムを試験し、同技術が商業展開に向けた最高基準を満たすことを確認した。
Equinor and Captura validate commercial Direct Ocean Capture

In a major step toward the commercialisation of Direct Ocean Capture (DOC) technology, a joint technology qualification program has validated Captura’s DOC system for commercial deployment.
DOC is an engineered carbon removal solution that extracts carbon dioxide from seawater for permanent CO2 storage or re-use. Captura’s DOC technology combines high-performing electrodialysis with the ocean’s natural ability to absorb atmospheric CO2, providing a scalable and complementary approach to existing carbon management solutions.
Over the past two years, Equinor and Captura have collaborated to advance this promising solution. Together, Equinor’s technical experts and Captura’s engineering and operations teams focused on evaluating the system’s design, operational stability, and performance during sustained operations.
This effort culminated in a rigorous, year-long qualification program at a joint 1,000-ton-per-year pilot facility in Kona, Hawaii. The program tested the system against 20 critical performance metrics, including safety, operational reliability, CO2 removal efficiency, and monitoring, reporting, and verification (MRV) to ensure the technology meets the highest standards for commercial deployment.
