英国、第2回沖合CO₂貯留ライセンス・ラウンドの募集開始

英国北海移行局（North Sea Transition Authority : NSTA）は、第2回CO₂貯留ライセンス・ラウンドの募集を開始し、英国が長期CO₂貯留ネットワークの構築を加速させる中、14の新規沖合水域が探査・評価可能となった。

上記サイトはスコットランド及びイングランドの海域に位置し、合計で最大2ギガトンの追加的貯留能力を提供できることから、英国による商業的CO₂貯留の規模拡大に向けたこれまでで最も重要な一歩を示すものである。

12月9日に発表された上記ラウンドは、NSTAが選定した老朽化した炭化水素田及び今年の候補地公募（Call for Nominations）で業界から推薦された塩水帯層という、2分類のサイトを含む。

The North Sea Transition Authority (NSTA) has opened its second CO₂ storage licensing round, making 14 new offshore areas available for exploration and appraisal as the UK accelerates the build-out of its long-term CO₂ storage network.

The sites, located in Scottish and English waters, could collectively provide up to 2 gigatons of additional storage capacity, marking one of the UK’s most significant steps yet toward scaling commercial carbon sequestration.

Announced on December 9, the round includes two categories of sites: depleted hydrocarbon fields selected by the NSTA and saline aquifers nominated by industry during this year’s Call for Nominations.
