EUイノベーション基金（EU Innovation Fund）、ACCSIONプロジェクトに2億2,000万ユーロの資金提供を確定

欧州気候・インフラ・環境執行機関（European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency:CINEA）は、デンマーク・オールボー（Aalborg）におけるCementir社のCO2回収プラント開発を支援する助成金を正式に確定した。
ACCSIONと名付けられたこのプロジェクトは、欧州初の1つとなる完全統合型陸上CCSバリューチェーンの構築を目指しており、グレーと白両方のネットゼロ・セメントを生産可能なEU初のセメント工場となる。この工場が操業開始すれば、年間150万トンのCO2排出量削減を実現し、Aalborg Portland社のスコープ1排出量における炭素中立達成を可能にする。
Cementir Holding社の会長兼CEO（Chairman and Chief Executive Officer）であるFrancesco Caltagirone Jr.氏は「このプロジェクトは持続可能性及びイノベーションに対する当社のコミットメントをより強固にするものである。CO2回収は、CO2排出量を削減し低炭素経済への移行に貢献するという当社の戦略において極めて重要な役割を果たす。このプロジェクトを通じて、我々は世界的な気候目標を支援すると同時にセメント業界の基準を確立することを目指す」と述べた。
EU Innovation Fund confirms EUR 220 million funding for ACCSION project

the European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency (CINEA) has officially confirmed the grant to support the development of Cementir CO2 capture plant in Aalborg, Denmark.
This project, under the name ACCSION, aims to create one of Europe’s first fully integrated onshore CCS value chains and it would be the first EU cement plant capable of producing both grey and white net-zero cements. Once operational, the plant will reduce CO2 emissions by 1.5 million tons annually, enabling Aalborg Portland to achieve CO2 neutrality for its Scope 1 emissions.
Francesco Caltagirone Jr., Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Cementir Holding, commented, ”This project reinforces our commitment to sustainability and innovation. Carbon capture plays a vital role in our strategy to reduce CO2 emissions and contribute to the transition towards a low-carbon economy. Through this project we aim to set a benchmark for the cement industry, while supporting global climate targets.”
