この潜在的な取引は、特定の事業部門をスピンオフし（「サテライト」と呼ばれる）、さらなる開発に向けた資本調達のために非支配持分を提供するという、Eni社の戦略的アプローチを反映している。
Eni社最高変革・財務責任者（Chief Transition and Financial Officer）のFrancesco Gattei氏によると、このモデルによって、同社は中核となる石油・ガス事業に資金を提供し続けながら、低排出事業の規模も拡張することができるという。

Italian energy giant Eni has initiated exclusive discussions with Global Infrastructure Partners (GIP), an investment fund under BlackRock, to sell a 49.99% stake in its carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS) division.
This potential deal reflects Eni’s strategic approach of spinning off specific business segments — referred to as “satellites” — and offering minority stakes in them to raise capital for further development.
The model enables the company to scale its low-emissions operations while continuing to fund its core oil and gas ventures, according to Francesco Gattei, Eni’s Chief Transition and Financial Officer.
