カナダ連邦政府は、排出されるCO2の回収・貯留費用削減を目指し、アルバータ州における5つのCO2回収イニシアティブに2,150万ドル拠出することを約束した。
Tim Hodgsonカナダ天然資源大臣（Natural Resources Minister）が、7月4日にカナダ・カルガリー（Calgary）北西部におけるBow Valley Carbon Cochraneのプロジェクトサイトで発表した。
カナダ・エネルギー革新プログラム（Energy Innovation Program）の下で資金提供されるこれらのプロジェクトには、天然ガス抽出施設の大規模アップグレードが含まれ、排出されたCO2は地下2.5マイル（4 km）に貯留されることになる。
Inter Pipeline社及びEntropy社による合弁事業であるBow Valleyは1,000万ドルを受け取る。
Hodgson大臣によると、同プロジェクトは、年間12,000台の自動車を道路から排除するのと同等の排出量を削減するという。
他には、アルバータ州中部（Central Alberta）におけるCO2貯留ハブのためにEnbridge社（400万ドル）及びEnhance Energy社（500万ドル）が資金提供を受ける。
2つの小規模なイニシアティブでは、分析技術の改善と小規模ディーゼル・エンジン回収が研究される。

Canada’s federal government has committed $21.5 million to five carbon capture initiatives in Alberta aimed at reducing the cost of capturing and storing carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions.
Natural Resources Minister Tim Hodgson made the announcement on July 4 at the site of Bow Valley Carbon Cochrane, northwest of Calgary.
Funded under the Energy Innovation Program, the projects include major upgrades to a natural gas extraction facility, where emissions will be stored 2.5 miles (4 km) underground.
Bow Valley, a joint venture between Inter Pipeline Ltd. and Entropy Inc., will receive $10 million.
Hodgson said the project will cut emissions equivalent to removing 12,000 cars from the road annually.
Other recipients include Enbridge Inc. ($4 million) and Enhance Energy Inc. ($5 million) for carbon storage hubs in Central Alberta.
Two smaller initiatives will explore improved analysis technologies and small-scale diesel engine capture.
