三菱電機株式会社、ビール工場におけるCO2回収・資源化の実証試験へ

三菱電機株式会社は、台湾の財団法人工業技術研究院（Industrial Technology Research Institute：ITRI）及び台湾タバコ・酒株式会社（Taiwan Tobacco & Liquor Corporation：TTL社）竹南ビール工場（Jhunan Brewery）と、CCUの実証試験を開始する基本協定を締結した。
これはカーボンリサイクルの促進と産業脱炭素化の支援を目指すイニシアティブであり、この協定に基づき、TTL社竹南ビール工場でビール製造中に排出されるCO2は回収・精製され、同工場の飲料製造工程で再利用される。
この協定は、2024年4月に三菱電機とITRIの間で締結された、持続可能な技術の研究協力に関する基本協定に基づくものである。
今年前半、これら提携組織は、三菱電機の先端技術総合研究所（兵庫県尼崎市）にITRIが開発したCO2回収装置を設置し、ガスボイラーの排ガスからCO2を回収する実証試験を開始した。
台湾におけるこの新規プロジェクトは、飲料業界の排ガスCCUの社会実装に向けた次のステップを示すものである。

Mitsubishi Electric Corporation has signed a collaboration agreement with Taiwan’s Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI) and the Taiwan Tobacco & Liquor Corporation (TTL) Jhunan Brewery to begin demonstration tests of CCU.
Under the agreement, CO2 emitted during beer production at TTL Jhunan Brewery will be captured, purified, and reused in the brewery’s own beverage manufacturing processes — an initiative aimed at advancing carbon recycling and supporting industrial decarbonization.
The collaboration builds on an April 2024 agreement between Mitsubishi Electric and ITRI to jointly research sustainability technologies.
Earlier this year, the partners began demonstrations at Mitsubishi Electric’s Advanced Technology R&D Center in Amagasaki, Japan, where an ITRI-developed CO2 capture machine was installed to test capture from gas boiler flue gas.
The new Taiwan-based project represents the next step toward commercial-scale deployment of CCU for flue gas emissions in the beverage sector.
