スイスBECCSプロジェクト、越境CO2貯留契約を確保

スイスのCCSを伴うバイオエネルギー（BECCS）プロジェクトが、INEOS社との長期CO2貯留契約を確保し、欧州における越境CO2輸送・恒久的貯留の大きな節目を刻んだ。
この契約により、CO2 Energie AG社は、デンマーク領北海におけるGreensand Future CO2貯留プロジェクトのオペレーターであるINEOS社と連携することになる。プロジェクト開発業者であるAirfix社が調整したこの契約は、スイスで回収された生物起源CO2を北海の海底下に恒久的に貯留することを可能にし、国際CO2バリューチェーンの技術的及び商業的実現可能性を実証する。
RegionalWerke AG Baden社及びRecycling Energie AG社が主導するこのCO2 Energieプロジェクトは、バイオメタン製造をBECCS技術と統合するものである。2026年第2四半期に操業が開始されれば、同施設は年間4,250トン以上の生物起源CO2を回収し、Greensandサイトでの沖合地中貯留のために輸送する見込みである。
同プロジェクトは、スイス国外でCO2を貯留する同国初の商業的イニシアティブとなるだけでなく、デンマークの貯留容量を確保した唯一の非デンマーク・プロジェクトとなることから、越境炭素除去展開における欧州初の事例と位置付けられる。
Swiss BECCS Project Secures Cross-Border CO2 Storage Deal

A Swiss bioenergy with CCS (BECCS) project has secured a long-term carbon dioxide storage agreement with INEOS, marking a major milestone for cross-border CO2 transport and permanent storage in Europe.
The agreement brings together CO2 Energie AG and INEOS, operator of the Greensand Future CO2 storage project in the Danish North Sea. Facilitated by project developer Airfix, the deal enables the permanent storage of biogenic CO2 captured in Switzerland beneath the seabed of the North Sea, demonstrating the technical and commercial feasibility of international CO2 value chains.
The CO2 Energie project, led by RegionalWerke AG Baden and Recycling Energie AG, integrates biomethane production with BECCS technology. Once operational in the second quarter of 2026, the facility is expected to capture and transport more than 4,250 tons of biogenic CO2 per year for offshore geological storage at the Greensand site.
The project will become Switzerland’s first commercial initiative to store CO2 outside its borders and the only non-Danish project to secure storage capacity in Denmark, positioning it as a European first in cross-border carbon removal deployment.
