北欧と英国間のCCS船舶輸送回廊の可能性を調査すると共に、この新しいが極めて重要なエネルギー移行分野に関する経験と知識を共有するため、2つのMoUが締結された。

Associated British Ports社（ABP社）、LBC Tank Terminals社（LBC社）、North Sea Port及びエスビャウ（Esbjerg）港が2つの重要なMoUが締結した。1つ目はABP社・LBC社・North Sea Portの間で、2つ目はABP社とエスビャウ港の間でそれぞれ結ばれ、回収したCO₂の船舶輸送ルートの開発に向けた共同取り組みの基盤を整え、排出削減が困難な部門の排出量削減を可能にすると共に、雇用を支援し成長させる。この新たな海運市場は、港湾のグリーン経済における主要プレーヤーとしての位置付けを更に強化するものである。

2つのMoUは下記に重点を置く。

• CO₂の荷役、貯蔵及び船舶輸送のための港湾インフラの設計。
• ABP社が有する英国ハンバー（Humber）の港湾・欧州の主要港・インフラ資産所有者の間のCO₂輸送のための強固なバリューチェーンの構築。
• CCUS関連輸送の革新及び効率化の推進。

UK and European port and infrastructure players partner to advance carbon shipping in the North Sea

Two MoUs were signed to study the potential of CCS shipping corridors between Northern Europe and the UK, as well as sharing experience and understanding of this new but crucial energy transition area.

Associated British Ports (ABP), LBC Tank Terminals (LBC), North Sea Port and the Port of Esbjerg have signed two significant MoUs. The first between ABP and LBC and North Sea Port and a second between ABP and the Port of Esbjerg set the stage for collaborative efforts to develop shipping routes for captured carbon dioxide, enabling hard-to-abate sectors to cut emissions while supporting and growing jobs. This new shipping market adds to the positioning of ports as key players in the green economy.

The two MoUs will focus on:

• Designing port infrastructure for CO₂ handling, storage and shipping.
• Building a robust value chain for CO₂ transport between ABP’s Humber ports and leading European ports and infrastructure asset owners.
• Driving innovation and efficiencies in CCUS related transportation.
