ENEOS、住友商事、44.01社、新たなCO₂鉱物化実証において提携

既に確立しているパトナーである住友商事株式会社及び44.01社が、石油・天然ガス大手のENEOS Xplora社と覚書（MOU）を締結し、中東でのCO₂鉱物化実証に向けて協力することに合意した。

この合意に基づき、上記企業は、日本及び海外の双方においてCO₂鉱物化の実証及び商業化に向けて協調的に取り組み、具体的には2030年までに中東で同技術の有効性を実証することを目指す。

従来のCO₂鉱物化手法には、回収したCO₂の砂岩層への圧入が含まれるが、同MOUに基づく協業では、CO₂を火成岩層に圧入するプロセスの確立に取り組む。

Established partners Sumitomo Corporation and 44.01 have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with oil and natural gas giant ENEOS Xplora, agreeing to cooperate on a carbon mineralization demonstration in the Middle East.

Under this agreement, the companies will align efforts to demonstrate and commercialize CO₂ mineralization both in Japan and other overseas locations, specifically aiming to prove the performance of this technology in the Middle East by 2030.

Conventional carbon mineralization approaches include injecting captured CO₂ into sandstone formations, while the MOU cooperation will work to establish a process for injecting CO₂ into igneous rock formations.
