ADM announced on Sep. 21 its planned entry into the voluntary carbon dioxide removal market, with credits generated by its carbon capture operations at the Columbus, Nebraska corn processing complex. The facility is described as the largest bioethanol carbon capture site in the world, offering more than 800,000 tons of annual removal capacity.

The company said these credits are undergoing certification and issuance by Puro.earth under its Geologically Stored Carbon methodology (Edition 2024). ADM expects initial issuance of the credits by year end, pending completion of an audit process.
