A €2.3 million (~$2.7 million) grant from the EU’s Just Transition Fund will support early-stage development of carbon capture, utilization and storage (CCUS) infrastructure centered on the Port of Hirtshals in northern Denmark.

Awarded by the Danish Business Authority, the funding will underpin feasibility work and system design for a future CO₂ terminal intended to handle cross-border volumes from across Northern Europe. The initiative aims to position Hirtshals as a strategic gateway for captured carbon destined for offshore storage sites in the North Sea region.
