Ucaneo社は、新しい、熱を使用しない低エネルギーDAC技術に特化しており、同技術は、大気中のCO₂を安定した重炭酸塩の形で回収するために生体模倣型吸収液を使用し、CO₂が人体内を移動する過程を模倣するシステムによって支えられている。

室温で作動するこのシステムは、回収したCO₂を電気化学スタック内で加速変換させ、電気透析によりCO₂を分離・濃縮し、高純度ガスの連続流とする。

同社は現在、トン当たり約350ドル（300ユーロ）未満の費用を達成でき、実現可能性調査で確認された経路では、将来的にトン当たり約118ドル（100ユーロ）を達成できることを情報共有している。

Siemens To Help Ucaneo Optimize Operations At Its DAC Plants

Germany-based direct air capture (DAC) company Ucaneo has teamed up with industrial automation giant Siemens, looking to optimize operations at its DAC plants.

Through this partnership, Siemens will provide its expertise on automatization and digitalization, helping Ucaneo standardize processes as it works towards scaling impact.

Ucaneo specializes in a novel heat-free, low-energy DAC technology driven by a system that uses a biomimetic solvent to capture atmospheric CO₂ in a stable bicarbonate form, imitating the process in which CO₂ travels through the human body.

Working at room temperature, the system puts the captured CO₂ through an accelerated conversion inside its electrochemical stack, and electrodialysis releases and concentrates the carbon into a continuous stream of high-purity gas.

The company shares that currently, they are able to achieve costs below ~$350 (€300) per ton, with a feasibility study-confirmed path for reaching ~$118 (€100) per ton in the future.
