Northern Lights CCS合弁会社が、同社船団に3隻目の液化CO₂（LCO₂）輸送船を追加した。

最新の船舶「Northern Phoenix」は、ノルウェー・ベルゲン（Bergen）から進水し、ノルウェー化学大手Yara社で回収されたCO₂を同国のオイガーデン（Øygarden）にある同合弁会社の受け入れ基地まで輸送する。CO₂は海底下約2.6km地点に貯留される。

「最初の2隻が既に就航している中、Northern Phoenixは当社のCO₂船舶輸送能力を拡大する上での次のステップを意味する」とNorthern Lights社社長（Managing Director）のTim Heijn氏は述べた。

Northern LightsはCO₂輸送及び貯留サービス（storage-as-a-service）を提供しており、2025年8月に恒久的な貯留を目的としたLCO₂の初圧入を開始した。

The Northern Lights carbon capture and storage joint venture has added a third liquefied carbon dioxide (LCO₂) carrier to its fleet.

The newest vessel, Northern Phoenix, launched from Bergen in Norway and will transport captured CO₂ from Norwegian chemical giant Yara to the JV’s receiving terminal in Øygarden, where it will be stored around 2.6km beneath the seabed.

“With our first two ships already in operation, Northern Phoenix marks the next step in scaling our CO₂ shipping capacity,” said Tim Heijn, Managing Director of Northern Lights.

Northern Lights offers CO₂ transport and storage-as-a-service and started the first injection of LCO₂ for permanent storage in August 2025.
