英国エネルギー安全保障・ネットゼロ省（UK Department for Energy Security and Net Zero：DESNZ）は、従来のパイプライン網の枠を超えてCO2輸送の代替手段を検討するため、新たなパイロット・プログラムを発表した。同イニシアティブは、産業部門全体でCCUS展開を拡大するという英国のより広範な戦略の一環を成す。
4月9日に発表された非パイプライン輸送（NPT）パスファインダー（Non-Pipeline Transport (NPT) Pathfinder）は、回収済みCO2の道路、鉄道及び船舶による輸送の実現可能性を評価する。同スキームは当初、英国ティーズサイド（Teesside）における英国東海岸クラスター（East Coast Cluster）の選定プロセスの中で概略が示されたものであり、既存インフラを補完しつつ、システムの柔軟性を高めることを目的としている。
業界団体のCCS協会（Carbon Capture and Storage Association：CCSA）は、このプログラムについて、より適応性の高いCCUSネットワークの実現に向けた重要な一歩であると述べた。
CO2回収・除去技術に関連する120社以上を代表する同団体は、様々な産業部門からの幅広い参加を促進する上で、輸送オプションを多様化させることの重要性を強調している。
UK Launches Pilot To Advance CO2 Transport Beyond Pipelines

The UK Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ) has introduced a new pilot program to explore alternative methods to transport CO2, expanding beyond traditional pipeline networks. The initiative forms part of the UK’s broader strategy to scale CCUS deployment across industrial sectors.
Announced on 9 April, the Non-Pipeline Transport (NPT) Pathfinder will assess the feasibility of moving captured CO2 via road, rail, and shipping. The scheme was initially outlined during the selection process for the East Coast Cluster in Teesside and is intended to complement existing infrastructure while increasing system flexibility.
Industry group Carbon Capture and Storage Association (CCSA) described the program as a key step toward enabling a more adaptable CCUS network.
The organization, which represents over 120 companies involved in carbon capture and removal technologies, has emphasized the importance of diversified transport options in unlocking wider participation across industries.
