日本企業、グローバルなCCSプロジェクトにおける協業で合意

千代田化工建設株式会社、日本郵船株式会社及びその関連会社であるKNCC社は、CO₂輸送方式の最適化を含めた国内外におけるプロジェクトを対象としてCCS事業機会の拡大を図るために協力していく。

上記3社はまた、コンセプトスタディ、フィージビリティスタディ、基本設計（Pre-FEED／FEED）及び設計・調達・建設（EPC）といったプロジェクト開発の各段階における協業の可能性も模索していく。

2024年に3社は、液化CO₂（LCO₂）の技術として想定される3つの方式、すなわち、常温昇圧（EP）方式・中温中圧（MP）方式・低温低圧（LP）方式それぞれのバリューチェーン全体のコストや納期などの定量評価と、社会実装に向けた課題について共同検討を実施した。

共同検討の結果は2024年3月4日に、グローバルCCSインスティテュート（Global CCS Institute：GCCSI）が主催した「Japan CCS Forum Technical Seminar（日本CCSフォーラム技術セミナー）」にて発表された。

同検討を通じて得られた技術及び知見を活用し、各社が有する強みと組み合わせることで、3社は今後CCS事業者のプロジェクトごとに合わせたバリューチェーンスタディを実施することが可能となる。

Japanese companies agree to collaborate on global CCS projects

Chiyoda, NYK Line and its affiliate KNCC will work together to expand CCS business opportunities for projects in Japan and overseas, including optimising CO₂ transportation methods.

The three companies will also explore potential collaboration at each stage of project development, including concept studies, feasibility studies, basic engineering (Pre-FEED/FEED), and engineering, procurement and construction (EPC).

In 2024, the three companies jointly conducted a study on the quantitative evaluation of costs and schedules across the entire value chain for three liquefied CO₂ (LCO₂) technology options — elevated pressure (EP), medium pressure (MP), and low pressure (LP) — and on the challenges associated with their social implementation.

The results of the study were presented on March 4, 2024, at the Japan CCS Forum Technical Seminar, organised by the Global CCS Institute (GCCSI).

Using the technologies and insights gained through this study and combining their respective strengths, the parties will be able to conduct value chain studies tailored to individual CCS operator projects in the future.
