米国の近隣国（カナダ）、世界初のCO2回収ガスタービン発電所の運転を開始

Advantage Energy Limited社（Advantage社）の子会社であるEntropy Inc社（Entropy社）はこのたび、カナダ・アルバータ州サドル・ヒルズ（Saddle Hills）郡にあるGlacierガス発電所における「Glacier第2フェーズ」CCSプロジェクトにおける作業を正式に完了した。
これにより、同発電所は、天然ガスタービン発電に適用された初の商用燃焼後CCSシステムとなった。同社によると、基本的には、天然ガス処理プラントと新設のガス火力発電機に化学的CO2スクラバーが追加されたという。
従って、プラントは依然として天然ガスを燃焼させて発電を行うが、排ガスからは今後、90％以上のCO2が除去されると、同社は主張している。分離されたガスはその後、圧縮され、長期貯留のために地中に圧入される。
「Glacier第2フェーズを工期通りかつ安全に稼働させるにあたり、弊社チームとサービス提供事業者が成し遂げた成果を誇りに思う」とEntropy社の最高経営責任者（Chief Executive Officer）であるSanjay Bishnoi氏は、プレスリリースの中で説明した。

Entropy Inc (Entropy), a subsidiary of Advantage Energy Limited (Advantage), has now officially completed works on its “Glacier Phase 2” CCS project at the Glacier Gas Plant in Saddle Hills County, Alberta.
This makes it the first commercial post-combustion CCS system applied to a natural-gas turbine generating electricity. According to the company, they have essentially added a chemical CO2 scrubber to a natural-gas processing plant and a new gas-fired generator.
So, while the plant still burns natural gas for power, the exhaust gases are now scrubbed of, they claim, more than 90% of CO2. The separated gases are then compressed and injected underground for long-term storage.
“We are proud of the work our team and service providers have done to safely bring Glacier Phase 2 online right on schedule,” explained Sanjay Bishnoi, Chief Executive Officer of Entropy, in a press release.
