カナダ政府及び同国アルバータ州政府は今日（9日）、カナダのCCSリーダーシップにおける次の大きなステップとして、Enhance Energy社と共に、アルバータ州クライブ（Clive）近郊に位置するOrigins CCSハブの建設を開始した。

2027年1月に操業が開始されれば、Origins CCSハブは、カナダ最大のCCSプロジェクトかつ世界最大級のCCS施設となることが見込まれている。プロジェクトは、初期において年間最大150万トンのCO₂を恒久的に貯留する能力を持ち、その能力は将来的に拡張できる。

Taking Canada’s next big step in our CCS leadership, today, the Government of Canada and Government of Alberta, along with Enhance Energy, marked the beginning of construction of the Origins CCS Hub near Clive, Alberta.

Once operations begin in January 2027, the Origins CCS Hub is expected to be the largest CCS project in Canada and one of the largest CCS facilities in the world. The project will initially have the capacity to permanently store up to 1.5 million tonnes of CO₂ annually with the ability to expand over time.
