Samsung Heavy社、浮遊式CO₂貯留装置の認証を獲得

韓国の造船会社Samsung Heavy Industries社が木曜日（31日）、浮遊式CO₂貯留装置（FCSU）の基本設計承認をDNV社から獲得したと述べた。

マレーシアのMISC Berhad社と共同開発した浮遊式装置は、長さ330m、幅64mで、液体CO₂をマイナス50℃以下の温度で10万立方メートル貯留することが可能であると、Samsung Heavy社は述べた。

Samsung Heavy社は、陸上ターミナルで回収されたCO₂を、老朽化した沖合のガス井及び油井に圧入する前に同社のFCSUで貯留できると述べた。

同社はまた、装置のデッキにある圧入モジュールは、年間500万トンのCO₂を海底に送り込むことができると付け加えた。

Samsung Heavy wins certification for floating CO₂ storage unit

South Korean shipyard Samsung Heavy Industries Co. said Thursday it has won an approval in principle for a floating carbon dioxide storage unit (FCSU) from DNV.

The floating unit, developed jointly with Malaysia’s MISC Berhad, is 330 meters long and 64 meters wide, and is capable of storing 100,000 cubic meters of liquid CO₂ at temperatures of minus 50 C and below, Samsung Heavy said.

Samsung Heavy said its FCSU is able to store CO₂ captured in land terminals before it goes into the depleted offshore gas and oil wells.

Samsung Heavy added an injection module on the unit’s deck can send 5 million tons of CO₂ into the ocean floor per year．
