三井海洋開発株式会社及び東洋エンジニアリング株式会社のCO₂回収と組み合わせたアンモニアFPSO、ABSからAiPを取得

ブルー・アンモニア製造用に船上CO₂回収技術を搭載したアンモニア浮体式生産貯蔵積出（FPSO）設備の新しい設計が、米国船級協会（ABS）から基本設計承認（AiP）を取得した。

この設計は、東洋エンジニアリング株式会社と共同で三井海洋開発株式会社が行った。ABSは、船級及び法定要件に基づいて設計レビューを完了した。

ブルー・アンモニアは、低炭素なアンモニア生産方法であり、回収・貯留されたCO₂の副産物として発生する水素と、窒素から合成される。

ABS AiP for MODEC and TOYO ammonia FPSO with carbon capture

A new design for an ammonia floating production storage and offloading (FPSO) unit that features onboard carbon capture technology for blue ammonia production has received approval in principle (AiP) from ABS.

The design comes from MODEC, in collaboration with Toyo Engineering Corporation (TOYO). ABS completed design reviews based on class and statutory requirements.

Blue ammonia is a low-carbon method of producing ammonia. It is produced by combining hydrogen, which is derived as a byproduct of carbon dioxide that has been captured and stored, with nitrogen.
