Carbonsate社、Puro.earth認証済みバイオマス貯留プロジェクトから初のクレジット発行を達成

Carbonsate社は、Puro.earthのTerrestrial Storage of Biomass（バイオマスの陸地保管）方法論に基づき、ナミビアにおける同社バイオマス貯留プロジェクトから初めて799単位の炭素除去クレジットを発行することに成功した。
このクレジット発行は、Carbonsate社がPuro.earth登録簿に掲載された100番目の認証済み施設となった数週間後に実現した。
ドイツ・ベルリンを拠点とするCarbonsate社は、2033年までに毎年1,000万トン以上のCO2を大気中から除去することを使命として掲げ、現在ナミビア、カメルーン、コロンビア及びブルガリアにおいてバイオマス・ベースのプロジェクトを運営している。
Otjiwarongopプロジェクトとして知られる、ナミビアでの同社プロジェクトは、ナミビアの国土面積の約30％に影響を及ぼし、農業、地域の生物多様性及び地下水涵養に負荷をかけている低木侵入の問題に対処するため、バイオマス貯留を活用している。
プロジェクトの一環として、Carbonsate社チームは、過剰な低木を厳選して伐採し、生物多様性の保全と土地の再生を優先している。
Carbonsate Marks First Credit Issuance From Its Puro.earth-Certified Biomass Storage Project

Carbonsate has successfully issued the first 799 carbon removal credits from its Namibia-based biomass storage project under the Terrestrial Storage of Biomass methodology by Puro.earth.
The credit issuance comes a few weeks after Carbonsate became the 100th certified facility on the Puro.earth Registry.
Set on a mission of removing more than 10 million tons of CO2 from the atmosphere every year by 2033, Berlin-based Carbonsate currently operates biomass-based projects in Namibia, Cameroon, Colombia, and Bulgaria.
Its project in Namibia, also known as the Otjiwarongo Project, uses biomass storage to tackle the issue of bush encroachment, that is affecting roughly 30% of Namibia’s land area, putting pressure on farming, local biodiversity, and groundwater recharge.
As part of the project, Carbonsate’s team selectively harvests the excess bush, proritizing biodiversity conservation and land restoration.
