川崎汽船株式会社、アジアにおけるCCUS拠点開発を調査するコンソーシアムに参画

川崎汽船株式会社（以下「川崎汽船」）は、アジア全域におけるCCUS拠点開発の事前実現可能性調査を実施する産業コンソーシアムに参画した。同コンソーシアムは、2025年8月にArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India社、JSW Steel社、現代製鉄株式会社（Hyundai Steel社）、BHP社、Chevron社、三井物産株式会社等により結成され、2026年2月、株式会社神戸製鋼所及びLow Emission Technology Australiaと共に、川崎汽船をCO2輸送技術のエキスパートとして迎え入れた。上記調査は、アジア初となる業界主導の独立したCCUS拠点評価であり、CO2排出削減が困難な部門におけるCCUS活用、及び回収済みCO2の有効利用ないし貯留における技術的・商業的オプションを評価するものである。フェーズ1では、3,000以上の貯留候補地の中からインド2拠点、インドネシア、マレーシア及びオーストラリアの計5拠点を主要候補地として選定した。フェーズ2では、拠点のコンセプトを明確化し、コスト削減、商業化モデルの構築、及び規制上の課題解決に取り組んでいく。川崎汽船は、より広範な脱炭素化戦略である「“K” LINE環境ビジョン2050」の一環として、ノルウェーのNorthern Lights及び日本政府支援によるCCSプロジェクト等の液化CO2輸送に関する実務経験を活かしていく。
“K” LINE Participates in a Consortium of Carbon Capture, Utilization and Storage (CCUS) Hub Study in Asia

Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha (“K” LINE) has joined an industry consortium conducting a pre-feasibility study on developing CCUS hubs across Asia. Formed in August 2025 by ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India, JSW Steel, Hyundai Steel, BHP, Chevron, Mitsui and others, the group added “K” LINE in February 2026 as a specialist in CO2 shipping, along with Kobe Steel and Low Emission Technology Australia. The study, the first independent industry-led CCUS hub assessment in Asia, evaluates technical and commercial options for deploying CCUS in hard-to-abate sectors and for using or storing captured CO2. Phase 1 selected five priority hub locations, two in India plus hubs in Indonesia, Malaysia and Australia, from more than 3,000 candidate storage sites. Phase 2 will refine hub concepts, cut costs, develop business models and address regulatory gaps. “K” LINE will draw on its experience in liquefied CO2 transport, including Norway’s Northern Lights and Japanese government-backed CCS projects, as part of its broader “K” LINE Environmental Vision 2050 decarbonization strategy.
