スイスは、厳しい選定プロセスを経て、CCSイニシアティブに連邦資金を提供し、産業脱炭素化の加速に向けた同国の取り組みを浮き彫りにした。
選定された提案はRegionalwerke Baden社が提出したもので、最大4,170万スイスフラン（5,260万ドル）を受け取ることとなる。同プロジェクトは、当初21件の提案が提出された2段階から成る入札を経て選定された。17件の申請が第2ラウンドに進んだが、2025年10月31日の締め切りまでに提出された包括的な提案書は3件のみであった。
BKW AEK Contracting社及びLinde Gas Schweiz社との提携の下で開発され、Airfix Carbon社及びSouth Pole社に支援されている同プロジェクトは、スイス・オテルフィンゲン（Otelfingen）にあるバイオマス発電所からの排出ガス回収に焦点を当てる。回収されたCO2の一部は、欧州の別の場所にある貯留施設まで輸送され、そこで恒久的に貯留される予定である。残りは、産業プロセスにおける化石ベースCO2を置き換える気候中立産業ガスとして再利用されることが想定されている。
同イニシアティブはまた、スイスでこれまで導入されたことのない分離技術を取り入れるため、国内エネルギー部門の技術的な節目を刻む。
Carbon Capture Project Secures $53M Swiss Backing As Climate Funds Start Flowing

Switzerland has awarded federal funding to a CCS initiative following a tightly contested selection process, underscoring the country’s effort to accelerate industrial decarbonization.
The winning proposal, submitted by Regionalwerke Baden AG, will receive up to 41.7 million Swiss francs ($52.6 million). The project emerged from a two-stage tender that initially drew 21 submissions. Seventeen applicants advanced to the second round, but only three full proposals were filed by the October 31, 2025 deadline.
Developed in partnership with BKW AEK Contracting AG and Linde Gas Schweiz AG, and supported by Airfix Carbon AG and South Pole AG, the project focuses on capturing emissions from a biomass power plant in Otelfingen. Part of the captured carbon dioxide is slated for transport to a storage facility elsewhere in Europe, where it will be permanently sequestered. The remainder is intended for reuse as a climate-neutral industrial gas, replacing fossil-based carbon dioxide in industrial processes.
The initiative also introduces a separation technology that has not previously been deployed in Switzerland, marking a technical milestone for the domestic energy sector.
