最近、インド財務省傘下の支出財務委員会による承認を得た同スキームは、発電所、製鉄所、セメント製造業者等の大型産業活動がCO2排出量を削減できるように支援することを目的としている。この決定に関する事情を直接的に知る情報筋は、Economic Times紙に対し、プロジェクトは先進的CO2回収技術と専用貯留層の双方を確立することを目的としていると述べた。
次の重要な節目は、同スキームを正式に開始する前に必要となる、インド連邦内閣（Union Cabinet）の承認を得ることとなる。

As India presses ahead with its climate commitments, a transformative scheme for carbon capture, utilisation and storage (CCUS) has received crucial financial backing. The initiative, with a planned outlay of ₹19,700 crore, is poised to reshape how industries manage carbon emissions and accelerate the nation’s progress towards net-zero targets.
Government unlocks funding for industrial carbon capture
The scheme, recently cleared by the expenditure finance committee under the finance ministry, is designed to help large industrial operations including power plants, steel mills, and cement manufacturers curb their carbon emissions. Sources with direct knowledge of the decision told The Economic Times that the project aims to establish both advanced carbon capture technologies and dedicated storage reservoirs.
The next milestone will be approval from the Union Cabinet, which is required before the scheme can be formally launched.
