石油・ガス、豪州最新CO2回収資金提供ラウンドの対象外に

豪州連邦政府、新たに3,260万豪ドルをCO2回収プロジェクトに拠出するも、最新の資金拠出枠に主要石油・ガス事業は含まれず
CO2回収・有効利用技術に資金提供を行うため、石油・ガス部門は、豪州連邦政府のCO2回収技術プログラム（Carbon Capture Technologies Program：CCTP）の最新資金提供ラウンドの対象外となった。
2024年7月に実施された第1資金提供ラウンドでは、豪州で上場していたPilot Energy社のCliff Head CCSプロジェクト案に対し650万豪ドルが提供されたが、同社はその後、経営破綻した。計7件のプロジェクトに対し、総額6,500万豪ドルが提供された。
しかし、3,260万豪ドルの資金提供を行う最新ラウンドのリストには、主要石油・ガス関連企業ないし既存プロジェクトが含まれていない。
直接空気回収及びCO2回収・有効利用を伴うCarina CCSハブを確立するため、1,000万豪ドル規模の助成金がAustralian Carbon Vault社に提供されたが、同社は、このCCSイニシアティブは石油増進回収ではなく、恒久的な除去に重点を置いていると明示的に述べている。
ACV社には今年2月、オトウェイ（Otway）盆地に位置するCarinaハブのための、2070平方キロメートルに及ぶガス貯留層探査ライセンスが付与され、現在も開発中である。同社の目論見書によると、初圧入は2031年を目指しており、国境を越えるCO2輸入が検討されている。

Federal government committing another A$32.6 million to carbon capture projects, but no major oil and gas schemes included in latest tranche
The oil and gas sector has missed on the latest round of funding from the Australian federal government’s Carbon Capture Technologies Program (CCTP) to provide funding to carbon capture and utilisation technologies..
The first round of funding in July 2024 included a grant of A$6.5 million to Australian-listed Pilot Energy, which has since entered administration, for its proposed Cliff Head carbon capture and storage (CCS) project. A total of seven projects were awarded a cumulative A$65 million.
However, in the latest round, providing A$32.6 million of funding, no major oil and gas linked company or existing projects were among the list.
An A$10 million grant to establish the Carina CCS hub with direct air capture and carbon capture and utilisation was awarded to Australian Carbon Vault, who explicitly states that its CCS initiatives are focused on permanent removal and not enhanced oil recovery.
The 2070 square kilometre gas storage exploration license for the Carina hub, located in the Otway basin, was awarded in February this year to ACV and remains under development. First injection is targeted for 2031 based on the company prospectus, with cross border CO2 import on the table.
