CCS Talks: The Acorn CCS Project and Scotland’s Contribution to Net Zero

24th June 2021

日本時間6月24日(木)午後10時開始

14:00 United Kingdom, 15:00 Brussels, 9:00 Washington DC

This webinar will provide insight into Scotland’s plans to deliver Net Zero, the associated decarbonisation roadmap and the role of the Acorn CCS project in its delivery. The Climate Change Act 2019, sets targets to reduce Scotland's emissions of all greenhouse gases to Net Zero by 2045 at the latest, with interim targets for reductions of at least 56% by 2020, 75% by 2030, and 90% by 2040.

CCS will play a key role in the delivery of Scotland’s climate targets. The Acorn project aims to provide a Carbon Capture and Storage capability for Scotland by the mid 2020s; leveraging existing offshore infrastructure to store CO2 in the North Sea.

Building on the Acorn project, a Roadmap has been developed establishing how a CCS network could  be developed to decarbonise major emission sources across Scotland. The Acorn project also aspires to support other carbon reduction projects both elsewhere in the UK and in mainland Europe.
