EU Green Week – Supporting Europe’s 2050 Climate Targets through Carbon Capture and Storage
2nd June 2021
日本時間6月2日午後10時開始
15:00 on 2 June in Brussel
In collaboration with the Zero Emissions Platform (ZEP), the Global CCS Institute will be hosting a live webinar on 2 June 2021 as part of EU Green week to discuss CCS an Europe's 2050 climate targets.
Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) will have a key role to play in Europe’s industrial transition towards net-zero greenhouse gas emissions. CCS are proven, cost-efficient technologies, that are available now and necessary for Europe to reach its target of net-zero emissions by 2050. Reaching climate neutrality by 2050 requires strategic investment decisions. There is a need to scale up investment in CCS technologies and to ensure that CCS is investible for European industry – pieces of legislation, such as the EU Taxonomy, will be key to enabling investment.
Of special importance is European, cross-border CO2 transport and storage infrastructure. Cross-border CO2 infrastructure allows all CO2 emitters across Europe to connect to safe, geological storage, and enables a cost-efficient transition to a climate-neutral economy, helping to kick-start the clean hydrogen economy and deliver carbon dioxide removals. The timely development of this infrastructure is crucial and will enable EU industry to take a proactive role in the transition towards the 2030 and 2050 climate targets. Along with discussions on CCS infrastructure, this webinar will touch on Europe's upcoming climate targets more broadly.
