Santos社は東邦ガス株式会社と、南オーストラリア州クーパー堆積盆地（Cooper Basin）でのカーボンニュートラルな合成メタン（e-メタン）製造に関する調査契約を締結した。この協力は、様々な産業及び機器で天然ガスの代替となり得るカーボンニュートラルな合成メタンの輸出を目指している。日本のエネルギー計画は、既存のガスインフラにかなりの割合で合成メタンを導入することを目標としており、Santos社にとって非常に大きな機会を提供することとなる。東邦ガスとの協力は、クーパー堆積盆地の寿命を延ばし、日本の脱炭素化への取り組みを支援する可能性がある。
Santos to collaborate with Japan’s Toho Gas on producing carbon-neutral e-methane in the Cooper Basin

Santos has signed an agreement with Toho Gas to investigate the production of carbon-neutral e-methane in South Australia’s Cooper Basin. The collaboration aims to export carbon-neutral e-methane, which can be used as a substitute for natural gas in various industries and appliances. Japan’s energy plan targets a significant percentage of e-methane in existing gas infrastructure, presenting a huge opportunity for Santos. The collaboration with Toho Gas could extend the life of the Cooper Basin and support Japan’s decarbonization efforts.
