上記2社は、沖合貯留層から石油及びガスを生産していることから、浮体式石油・ガス生産貯蔵積出船（Floating Production Storage and Offloading vessels：FPSO）のためのCO₂回収ソリューションを提供する。

CO₂回収ソリューションは、三菱重工業が関西電力株式会社と共同開発した独自の「Advanced KM CDR Process™」技術を利用する。

このCO₂回収技術は、FPSO事業全体からのCO₂排出量を最大70％削減できると見込まれている。

SBM Offshore and MHI partner on offshore CO₂ capture

The companies will offer a CO₂ capture solution for Floating Production Storage and Offloading vessels (FPSO) as they are producing oil and gas from offshore reservoirs.

The CO₂ capture solution will apply MHI’s proprietary “Advanced KM CDR Process™” technology, jointly developed with The Kansai Electric Power Co., Inc.

It is estimated that the CO₂ capture technology can reduce CO₂ emissions from overall FPSO operations by up to 70%.
